To start this project, I drew random letters and numbers out of a hat: 4, J, & L. After lots of sketching and brand research, I chose 4 and J to create a branding system for Jjalishan - Four Fires Korean BBQ. Jjalishan means ‘spicy’ in Korean. Below are my original sketches for the letter number logo design. I was drawn to angular and sophisticated designs for this combination of forms. The angles of the four lend nicely to the long ascender of the l and descender of the j. I pushed the logo further with bright, fiery orange and an alluring tagline.
Jjalishan is a restaurant full of color, fire, and flavor.
JJALISHAN ANIMATION
A seven second animation to accompany the brand and bring the Jjalishan logo alive. Abstract shapes drawn from the logo allude a clicking burner engulfed in flame, ending in sizzling suspense. Embodies the feeling of fire.
